Toronto50Plus.com - An online magazine for seniors with a zest for life, in Toronto and surrounding areas. | Toronto50Plus.com launches with content, videos, resources and product and entertainment reviews for a mature community with a zest for life, travel and health. Welcome to this online community where we uncover things you may have never known about (or around) our great city of Toronto. Think of us as an online magazine full of information and reviews that we hope you will find useful. It's great to be a senior citizen in Toronto, but sometimes the amount of technology and information out there is not only convoluted, but simply overwhelming. We can sort that out for you, right here at Toronto50Plus.com. Yours sincerely (Webmaster and fellow 50pluser), David Delaney |

It has long been advised that the safest place for your small, valuable objects is in a safe. If you don't want your precious documents and valuables to go up in smoke during a fire, or to be stolen during a home invasion, you'll need to somehow keep them protected from such threats. With home invasions happening every second of the day all over the country, burglaries represent a serious threat to your possessions. |

When it comes to her daily eating habits, people often take nutritional shortcuts as way to save time in their busy lives. As a result, sales of vitamins has been steadily increasing the population age. It is simply a way to compensate for poor dietary habits. Ovo, Cirque du Soleil’s newest touring show, has just come to Toronto. Performed under the Big Top, a large blue and yellow tent constructed on Commissioners Street, the show promises to dazzle, amaze and entertain and it does not miss its mark. Ovo, a Latin word meaning egg, stays within the theme of insects throughout the 2 ½ hour show, insects from spiders to dragonflies and crickets to fleas, all attired in creatively designed and stunningly colourful costumes. They will capture your interest and hold you spell-bound as you watch the varied set of presentations, all set to wonderfully catchy, and stunningly beautiful music.

A kid’s movie you might say. But ahhh, you would be so wrong. UP! is a current animated feature that is available for viewing in both regular and 3D versions. I myself went with no expectations for myself, only for the class of grade one students with whom I attended this feature. They loved it and sat with rapt faces turned towards the screen, laughing in all the right places and thoroughly enjoying the plot and effects. |

Julie and Julia, released August 7th, is a unique movie which brings to life not just one, but two books. One being Julie Powell’s book of the same name, and the other being Julia Child’s memoir, My Life in France. The movie is directed by Nora Ephron who is an A-lister herself, and features the talented Meryl Streep as Julia, Stanley Tucci as Julia’s husband Paul, and Amy Adams as Julie.

Michael Mann has had some rather big roles behind some contemporary mega-productions like Heat, Last of the Mohicans, Ali, Hannibal Lecter and Collateral so you know that he can deal with star power leading the way in his movies. This is however the first time he has directed Johnny Depp in a lead role and after watching the movie I cannot say either of them did the other guy any favors. |
