Years ago owning a personal computer was a big challenge as one could easily spend thousands of dollars to get all of the hardware and software needed to run the home based system. Over time we reached an age of wireless devices where one could be mobile and still be able to keep in touch remotely via the internet. These laptop computers are coming down in price but can still cost someone a nice penny. Obviously there is still a need for desktop and laptop computers but today if you need to be in touch remotely and have limited funds the NetBook is a great option.

The NetBook is a computer that weigh's approximately 3 pounds and is a fraction of the size of the standard laptops. The screens range between 10-11.5 inches. The keyboards are also a little tight but are manageable. It provides the users with the capability to access the internet, and read emails. The battery life runs between 3-9 hours before needing to be recharged. It also has basic functionality to create and store word documents, excel spreadsheets, power point presentations, etc. Many of them come with a 60 Day trial version of Microsoft Office software. These are truly neat machines but do have some limitations. The NetBook does not come with an internal drive to play movies or to download information onto a disk from your hard drive. However, one could opt to purchase an external drive if needed. It also has some memory constraints but one can add memory to these devices should it be a requirement. you need more.

The NetBooks are priced in the $250-$500 range which for the functionality is a steal. The prices vary depending on the needed functionality and the size of the unit that one decides to purchase. It is important to understand what you intend to use it for so that you can be sure to get one that will fit your needs. There are many manufacturers of these devices and of course like most companies you should always do your homework prior to making a purchase. Here are a few that we have taken a look at to assist you along in the process. These products made the best purchase list within the NetBooks group:

1) Asus Eee PC 1005HA
2) Samsung N120
3) Acer Aspire One D250
4) Asus Eee pc 1000HE
5) Samsung N310
6) Lenovo IdeaPad S10
7) HP mini 311

Many have had great experiences with these products and they are great for the use of online browsing or perhaps taking a class online. Good luck with making the right decision for you in the world of NetBooks. http://www.currenteconomicsituation.com
